  8. Fix for Discis Books which contained Japanese and/or Mandarin background. The
  9. Customize Book options were either blank for Japanese or and accented 'A' for
  10. Mandarin.
  11.  
  12. Fix for book scroller. With books with few pages, the scroller did not react
  13. to mouse clicks directly below or directly above the pointer.
  14.  
  15. Fix for book list in the open book dialog breaking up when changing from 
  16. Discis Books to Preview Books.

  18. A new INI file entry
  19. Section:    Entry:        Meaning/Usage:
  20. Setup        ForceDIB    this flag controls whether or not the
  21.                 application should force the handling of
  22.                 device independant bitmaps when drawing the 
  23.                 pages. This is here for video drivers which 
  24.                 do not properly handle device bitmaps OR
  25.                 device dependant bitmaps. Use 'YES' or 'NO'.
  26.                 NOTE: Change this only if you are running
  27.                 into problems with the page being scrambled
  28.                 and the entry 'ForceDB=YES' did not help.
  29.                 ex. 'ForceDIB=YES'
  30.  
  31. Set the entry listed above to 'YES' to correct the problem.
  32. Instructions:    1. Start NOTEPAD, the Microsoft Windows editor. From the
  33.            'File' menu, select 'Open'.  Type 'DISCIS.INI' in the
  34.            file name box. Press ENTER or click the OK button.
  35.         2. Find the line
  36.             ForceDIB=NO
  37.         3. Move the flashing cursor to the start of 'NO' and press
  38.            DELETE twice. Now type in 'YES'.
  39.         4. From the 'File' menu, select 'Save'.
  40.         5. From the 'File' menu again, select 'Exit'
  41.         6. Double-click the Discis Books icon to start the
  42.            application.

  85. label had spaces near the end, they were removed, and if the label was
  86. longer than 8 characters, a '.' appeared in it.

  91. New MPC/Windows application!!!  It's here.  You can now enjoy all your DOS /
  92. Multiformat discs with all the comforts of Windows.  This program requires
  93. Microsoft Windows 3.10 or higher.  It will not work when running on Windows
  94. NT 3.1.

  98. Setup        Translate    type of output used for saving text files;
  99.                  ASCII - straight text,
  100.                  ANSI  - ANSI text (Windows text), or
  101.                  PC    - extended PC characters.

  104.         DefaultAudio    the ID index for the wave device. This
  105.                 should not be changed here, but in the
  106.                 'Customize|System Settings...' dialog.

  108.         DefaultVolume    the volume for the wave device. This
  109.                 should not be changed here, but in the
  110.                 'Customize|System Settings...' dialog.

  112.         Location    default location (full path) of bookmark
  113.                 and application files. This is the path
  114.                 to which you installed the application.
  115.                                 ex. 'Location=C:\DISCIS'

  117.         SwitchPalette    this flag controls whether or not the
  118.                 application should reset the system palette
  119.                 when swapping out to another application.
  120.                 NOTE: Change this only if you are running
  121.                 into problems when swapping out of the
  122.                 application. Use 'YES' or 'NO'
  123.                             ex. 'SwitchPalette=YES'

  125.         DisableScreenSaver    Whether or not the application should
  126.                 allow the screen saver to activate during a
  127.                 read. If Discis Books is not reading, the
  128.                 screen saver will work normally.  Change this
  129.                 to NO if you are having trouble with the
  130.                 screen saver when it activates. This can be
  131.                 changed here, or in the 'Customize|System
  132.                 Settings...' dialog. This settings will only
  133.                 affect Windows screen savers set up in the
  134.                 Control Panel. Use 'YES' or 'NO'.
  135.                                 ex. 'DisableScreenSaver=NO'
  136.  
  137.         DefaultLanguage Default language for the application when book
  138.                 opens. Last 4 characters of the language
  139.                 module's name. This setting affects only the
  140.                 menus and dialogs, NOT the book itself. This
  141.                 should not be changed here, but in the
  142.                 'Customize|System Settings...' dialog.
  143.                 ex. for english, the module is DISCENGL.DLL,
  144.                 use 'DefaultLanguage=ENGL'.

  147. Queries        QueryBigResolution    Warn user about screen resolution each
  148.                 time the programs starts: 0 - NO or 1 - YES.

  158. The following are used to show or hide menu items as a security feature.
  159. To hide an item, change the "SHOW" keyword to "HIDE". If all the items in
  160. a menu are hidden, the menu itself is also hidden, ie. if all the
  161. 'Bookmark' menu items are set to be hidden, the 'Bookmark' menu itself
  162. would be hidden in the application. To show the item (and the menu if it
  163. is hidden), change the keyword back to "SHOW".
